Richard Collins attended high school for four years and was a mechanic.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Buffalo, New York on 29 January 1942.

He was overseas for only two months when he was killed.

His two brothers also served. Paul was reported wound in action somewhere in Germany in February 1945.
