Pfc Robert T. Wilson, jr graduated from Philips Andover Academy in 1938. He graduated from Yale University. He worked at the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Sam Houston, Texas on 14 February 1943.

Pfc Wilson was taken prisoner of war on the same day of his death. At that time his unit was stationed in the front line in the vicinity of Honsfeld, Belgium. The exact circumstances are unknown.
