S/Sgt Roy B. Walton worked in the Loveless Restaurant in Ulster County and later, just before he entered the service, for the Kayser Mill.He enlisted on 2 April 1943. He trained at Camp Robinson, Arkansas and Camp Fannin, Texas. He underwent two operations for which he stayed in hospital from 3 January until 15 April 1944. He was sent overseas on 29 September 1944.
