Edward Czyz attended Lincoln High School and worked for the Nickel Plate Road.

He enlisted int Cleveland, Ohio on 29 June 1942.
The airplane was attacked by German fighters. With three engines burning, it left the formation about three minutes after leaving the target area.

Seven crew members survived and were taken prisoner, three men were killed.

De body of Sgt Czys was found in the wreckage.
