Lloyd Jackson graduated from Saluda High School where he played basketball and worked on a farm.

He was married to Ruby Bladen on 6 December 1941.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He received an intensive course of study in aviation mechianics in January 1943 at Amarillo Army Air Field in Texas and completed this course in June of that year.

The airplane was attacked by enemy aircraft near Hildesheim, Germany. The aircraft went into a spin and exploded.

Two men were blown out of the plane by the explosion and survived. The remaining eight crew members were killed. They were initially buried at the communicy cemetery of Ottbergen.
