Robert N. Weaver graduated from Milton High School in 1940 and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was employed at the Air Reduction Sales Company.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Boston, Massachusetts on 9 June 1942.

A FW-190 collided head on between the #1 and #2 engine. The wing broke off and the airplane exploded.

One crew member was blown away and survived. Nine men were killed.
