Pfc George F. Thompson was a sales clerk at the Kroger Grocery and Baking Company before he enlisted in Richmond, Virginia on 17 September 1941. He was sent overseas on 1 February 1945.He died of wounds, sustained by small amrs fire in a field hospital.
