Pvt Glen E. Stewart was a carpenter before he enlisted in Salt Lake City, Utah on 9 December 1943. He was sent overseas in January 1944.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: For gallantry in action on 20 March 1945, in Germany. When it was necessary for his squad to cross 50 yards of open terrain in assaulting Siegfried Line positions, Pvt Stewart an automatic rifleman, moved to an exposed location and drew the enemy fire to himself. Undaunted by heavy machine gun and rifle fire directed at him, he remained in position firing his weapon until the entire squad had crossed and was engaged with the enemy. He then moved forward 100 yards to a new position and took up the fire against hostile pill boxes. Although his heavy fire was drawing enemy fire, Pvt Stewart remained valiantly in position, inflicting many casualties on the enemy until he was killed by an enemy sniper.
