Pvt Vernon E. Rice worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 6 June 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
He is remembered at the Hopewell Cemetery in Prairie Township, Holmes, Ohio.
