Pvt Jack T. Harvey was a shipping clerk before he enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 26 January 1944.He was sent overseas in July 1944 and arrived in Italy on 12 August 1944, where he first saw action.
He was killed while guarding a bridge to prevent a German advance. An artillery shell made a direct hit, killing him and three other men.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Hochfelden, France.
