Pfc Lewis Nitardo was employed at the Bortz Candy Company before he enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 7 April 1942.
He was sent overseas in February 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
