S/Sgt Edward L. Lutkehaus graduated from Madeira High School, where he was a noted athlete. He was also a member of the Madeira Merchants Baseball Club.He enlisted at Patterson Field, Fairfield, Ohio on 31 August 1942.
The aircraft was shot down by fighters over the North Sea.
