2nd Lt James T. Howes attended Cornell University for one year.Lt Howes was lost on his ninth mission when his plane was shot down at 2:32 PM over Hahn, Germany when returning from a mission to Berlin. The Pilot and Co-Pilot died, the rest of the crew were taken POW. Lt Howes did not have a chance to get out of the cockpit when the fire started and died there.
