Pfc Lester B. Peterson enlisted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 9 October 1942 and trained at Fort Riley in Kansas, in the California desert and at Camp Polk in Louisiana. He was sent overseas in August, 1944 and was with the First Army's Ninth armored division as a radio operator.Prior to entering service he was employed at the Menominee Bax and Lumber Company. He attended high school for 2 years.
