2nd Lt Richard L. Schwensen East High School in Wichita, Kansas.His brother Robert H. Schwensen was reported missing in action on 6 February 1943 in New Guinea. He is memorialized on the Walls of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery at Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippines.
His brother Captain Justus M. Schwensen was shot down over Germany and reported missing in action on 17 January 1945. He is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.
