2nd Lt Lang attended Lowell High School and graduated from Lick-Wilmerding High School in 1939.

The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters. Seven crew members survived and were taken prisoner, two men evaded capture and only Lt Lang was killed. According to several crew members he was severely wounded but managed to bail out.
