S/Sgt Claude M. Davis's family moved to New York in 1924. He graduated from Oakfield High School and was employed at US Gypsum Company.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 14 September 1942 in Buffalo, New York.
Flak had caused a fire in the right wing. The #2 propeller broke off, and the #3 propeller had to be feathered. Also, the #4 propeller was damaged.
Eight crew members bailed out and were taken prisoner. Two men were killed.
