William attended Colorado Springs schools. He was employed by a concrete tile company before entering the service in May 1943. He was wounded in Italy on 22 January 1944, was taken prisoner, POW no. 270984, by the Germans. He came to Greifswald, Stalag 8 on 8 March 1945 from Stalag IIB and immediately entered the hospital. Treatment was given by a Belgium doctor until 16 March 1945 on which date he was sent to a hospital in town (German doctor). The Belgium doctor visited him the same night and the patient was very low. He died of Pneumonia.
