More information

T/Sgt Johnie R. Holt joined the National Guard in Waco, Texas on 25 November 1940.

He was killed by friendly fire. According to his niece Mrs. Sylvia Mc Donald, the following happened: "The information I was given as a young girl regarding his death was that as Johnnie was coming into camp one night, the guard said,"Halt", to which Johnnie replied "Holt", his last name. The guard thought it was a German saying "Halt", Johnnie was killed at that point.

He is remembered at the Coryell Baptist Church Cemetery, Oglesby, Coryell County, Texas.
