Pvt Fred J. Moon worked on a farm before he enlisted at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 26 August 1943.He was killed by small arms fire in his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Saint-Juan, France.
A monument near the town of Saulx bears his name.
