Pvt Harry J. Fetty enlisted in Clarksburg, West Virginia on 9 September 1943.On 10 February 1945, his platoon led an assault on Drusenheim and established strong points in a number of houses on the outskirts of town. Over the course of the day, German counterattacks gradually forced the Americans back until they were confined to only two buildings.
Pvt Fetty was killed by small arms fire during the afternoon. His platoon was eventually overrun and captured. Fetty's body was left behind in the town of Drusenheim.
