T/5 Wilbur D. Cearley graduated from Martha High School in 1937 and attended Southwestern Tech College in Weatherford.He volunteered for service in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 7 April 1942 and entered the coast artillery. He served in Umnak Island in the Aleutians for two years in an anti-aircraft artillery unit. He returned to the States for 6 months and transferred in the the infantry. He was then sent to the European Theater in January, 1945.
T/5 Cearley died of wounds suffered on 13 March 1945.
