Sgt Donald N. Suereth attended William Penn High School for three years and graduated from York Collegiate Institute.

He enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 28 September 1943 and was sent overseas on 6 August 1944.

During a counterattack, Sgt Suereth attempted to knock out the advancing tanks with a bazooka. He managed the tanks to retreat but was killed by their fire.
