1st Lt Glenn H. Gass attended 3 years of college and was a driver before he joined the National Guard in Pullman, Washington on 16 September 1940.
Citation Distinguished Service Cross:
On 24 February 1945, Lt Gass courageously led his platoon in a spirited attack against a strongly fortified enemy position in the Siegfried Line near Serrig, Germany. Wounded in the initial assault, he presses the attack in the face of withering hostile machine gun fire until wounded a second time. In spite of his wounds, this intrepid officer crawled to a more advantageous position in advance of his assault forces where he continued to direct them until the enemy stronghold was captured and consolidated. Lt Gass gallant tenacity and heroic leadership resulted in his forces gaining a secure foothold in the Siegfried Line. Although he later died of the wounds received his supreme devotion to duty lives on as an inspiration to the men with whom he fought.

Lt Gass was seriously wounded in action on 24 February 1945. He died of his wounds three days later in an Army Hospital.
