T/4 Frank Baran was a driver before he enlisted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 13 March 1941.His parents and his brother Michael were born in Czechoslovakia. Frank was the first child of the family who was born in the U.S.A.
His was killed by artillery shell fragments to the head.
His brother, Michael J. Baran, is buried at the American Military Cemetery and Memorial of Epinal, France.
The VFW post in Phillips, Wisconsin is named in their honor.
