Pvt John E. Throckmorton enlisted in April 1944.

On 28 February 1945, pvt Throckmorton's unit was sent on a patrol in the Neuenhauser forest. Amid heavy fighting, he was reported missing in action. He had been killed by an anti-personnel mine. In May 1945 his body was found among those of many other fallen Americans.
