Pvt John R. Carter attended Cardington High School and was employed at the Gandee Baking Company and the J. B. Henry Trucking Service before he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 19 January 1943.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
