1st Lt Emmett T. Corrigan Jr. attended Dartmouth College.

He enlisted in June 1942. He was commissioned in the tank destroyer forces and later volunteered for parachute duty. He was commissioned at Camp Hood, Texas in November 1942.

He was married to Bette Ann Lund on 26 September 1943.

He had been in Europe since January 1945.

1st Lt Corrigan was aboard a C-47 ithat lost its way in a smokescreen, which led to the 1st Battalion being dropped on the western edge of the Diersfordt Forest.
