S/Sgt William T. Tichenor enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 23 April 1941. He had been overseas since January 1944.

He was first buried at the American Military Cemetery of Saint James, France.

At the time of his death, his sister Florence and his brothers Joseph and Butner served in the U.S. Navy. His brother Lee was serving in the Army Air Corps.
