Pfc Thomas S. Jennings graduated from De Sales High School in 1938 and attended Mechanics Institute in Rochester.He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 8 July 1941.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Saint James, France.
His brother, Seaman Robert Paul Jennings, was also killed in action when the cruiser Quincy sank off the Solomon Islands. He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines.
