More information

T/5 Harry E. Brigham enlisted on 19 June 1943 and was sent overseas in December 1943.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal of his action on 22 July 1944. The citation cited: On July 22, in France, Pvt Brigham, with complete disregard for his own safety, went forward with another litter bearer and evacuated a wounded American soldier who was lying in a field between the front lines of our own forces and those of the enemy. The field was under heavy mortar and shell fire, and the length of the litter haul was 300 yards under extremely hazardous conditions.

At the time of his death his brother James served in Germany.
