S/Sgt Wayne C. Thulin attended high school for four years and was a salesman.He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army at Fort Des Moines, Iowa on 18 July 1941. He was sent overseas on 15 September 1942.
The airplane was knocked out of formation by anti-aircraft fire and attacked and shot down by three enemy fighters.
Five crew members survived and were taken prisoner, five men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Bentstreek, Germany on 22 December 1943.
