2nd Lt Rolland Wing Jr. graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1939. He attended college for one year and was employed at Douglas Aircraft Company.
He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve on 10 February 1943 in Fresno, California.

The airplane was hit by enemy aircraft and fire broke out after which it exploded.

Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, five men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Vimbuch, Germany.
