2nd Lt Theodore A. Redlein graduated from Amherst Central High School where he was captain of the basket ball team.

He enlisted on 9 March 1943 in Buffalo, New York and was commissioned on 8 April 1944.

The aircraft was attacked by an enemy aircraft and exploded in a matter of seconds after being hit.

Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, five men were killed.
