Lt Davis D. Murdock graduated from San Jose High School in 1939. He attended San Jose State College from 1939 to 1942.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 17 January 1942 at Moffet Field, California.
The aircraft was attacked by fighters over the target and on the return flight over the North Sea which set it on fire. It crashed north of Borkum Island. Only one crew member could bail out and was rescued by a German minesweeper. The other nine men drowned.
