S/Sgt James A. Mitchell graduated from Northeast High School and was employed at Fairfax bomber plant.

He entered service in July 1942.

The aircraft was seen to go down after being attacked by two FW-190's.

One crew member survived and was taken prisoner, nine men were killed.
