S/Sgt Harold K. Michaud enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 25 June 1942.

A/C 542 was attacked by enemy aircraft. Oxygen bottles were hit, setting fuselage on fire. Seven men were able to bail out and survived. Three men were KIA. Surviving crew member reports indicate that S/Sgt Michaud had been killed by enemy fire and went down with the plane.

S/Sgt Harold K. Michaud was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in St. Avold, France.
