1st Lt Everett L. Clinard Jr. attended Charleston High School and the teachers' college.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Chanute Field, Illinois on 9 February 1942.
The plane was attacked by fighters. On the return flight it was last seen shortly after 12.40 hrs about 12 miles of the western tip of Terschelling, The Netherlands. The plane crashed into the north sea in that area.
Lt Clinard is remembered at Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois with a memorial marker.
