More information

Pfc Howard R. Ruble enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 12 April 1941.

He is remembered at Rossburg Cemetery in Rossburg, Decatur County, Indiana with a memorial marker.

His nephew, Jim Baylis, remembers that the painting was made from a photo of Howard Ruble taken at the Greensburg, Indiana Railroad depot when he was leaving to report for duty. Jim says that was his mother's (Virgie, Howard's sister) last memory of seeing her brother.
