Pfc Emil A. Nemchik attended high school for four years and worked at the National Tube Company in McKeesport, Pennsylvania before he enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 7 April 1943.

According to his Hospital Admission Card File, he died of wounds in the leg and stomach.
