Sgt Robert P. McSpadden attended high school for four years and worked in the manufacturing of building transportation equipment.

He enlisted in Scott Field, Illinois on 4 March 1942.

According to a letter home of a conrade, Sgt McSpadden was killed when the company was moving up to the front in trucks and in darkness with no lights on. The truck, Sgt McSpadden was riding in, went off the road and turned over on a high explosive mine. Four others were killed in the incident.
