More information

Harold Neidig completed two years of college and worked as a foreman with the Asplundh Tree Expert Company.

On the return trip from the target I saw two ships go down, one was piloted by Lt Ponge & the other piloted by Lt Rogers. One ship which I believe to be Lt Ponge was attacked by fighters and shortly thereafter 8 chutes were seen to open. A/C was in steep vertical dive when last seen.
Statement from 1st Lt Joseph G. Liebich, Pilot A/C 42-94735.
Lt Neidig was in the Navigator´s compartment at the time the plane was shot down. It is Sgt Maynard´s believe that he was killed by the shell that came up through the Navigator´s compartment into the cockpit.
