2nd Lt Arne O. Bergum attended Worden High School and graduated from Hysham High School in 1938. He attended Billings Business College and was employed by the Northern Pacific Railway.He enlisted in January 1943.
The aircraft was hit by German flak. When the plane left the formation, German fighters pounced and shot down the stricken plane. The bomber crashed into the sea west of Terschelling.
None of the crew members survived the crash.
His two brothers also served during the war.
