T/4 Richard E. Willetts worked with his father, driving an oil truck before he enlisted at Fort Hayes, Ohio on 23 April 1941. He was sent overseas in September 1944.He was taken prisoner of war and was killed during an Allied bombing raid on Wittilch-Land, Germany. He was initially buried at the municipal cemetery of this town.
