Pfc Bernard F. Lawicki attended high school for two years and was employed at the NYC Ry Car Shop before he enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 12 October 1942.

He was wounded in action from artillery shell fragments and evacuated to a surgical facility. The exact location where he died is not known.
