Pfc Norman J. Hilgart was employed by father Tony Hilgart on the farm before he enlisted.

He was killed during the battle for control of the Kaiserbrücke leading to the gates of Trier, Germany.

He is remembered at the Nola Cemetery in Park Falls, Price County, Wisconsin.

His brother James A. Hilgart is buried at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery.
