Pfc Vincent A. Pratico enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 13 January 1941.

He was reported wounded in action by a piece of shrapnel which tore through his shoulder in March 1943 while in Tunisia, when he was part of the 1st Infantry Division. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal the first time.
