S/Sgt John J. Petruska was a laboratory technician before he joined the Regular Army on 21 August 1939.According to POW records, he was taken prisoner and held in Stalag V-A in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
He was first buried at the Frankfurt Mausoleum Cemetery.
Initially listed as missing in action, S/Sgt. Petruska's remains were recovered, identified and interred at the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial.
