Pvt Clifford E. Long enlisted at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky on 13 March 1944. He was a clerk before he enlisted. He went overseas in September and was stationed at Fort Knox in Kentucky before he was transferred to his port of embarkation.He was an employee of the Universal Cooler Corp. before entering service. He attended the Glenwood school and August 2, 1938 he married Miss Elizabeth Miller of Marion.
He had four children, ranging, in age from five years to nine months.
