Sgt Jake Poole joined the Regular Army in Jackson, Mississippi on 6 August 1940.Sgt Poole was in his tank at the time it was hit and the charred remains of his body were removed after the tank burned.
He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 13 January 1945. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 8 February 1949.
